A community-funded book by Nergiz
This is a book to redefine power. For ~6,000 years, humanity has been living under patriarchy, a system that we have been told is natural and inevitable. This system glorifies domination and oppressive power, but it has ultimately brought humanity to the precipice of social and ecological disaster.
Through storytelling and cultural critique, Matriarchy diagnoses the root of a global problem and invites you to imagine a completely different society. It is a call to collectively build a future rooted in love and transformative healing.
This book is being written in the fire - literally and spiritually. Through single motherhood and the grief of breaking from a patriarchal family, writing is how I have survived.
After 30+ rejections from big publishers, I've stopped waiting for permission from institutions. I’m self-publishing because I need this book to exist now, and I believe you do too.
What the book explores:
This is a community-funded release. Every contribution supports the birth of the book and the ongoing work of creating and mothering in a time of collapse and awakening.
If you believe we need new models of power and culture, and if you feel the call to live differently, I’d love for you to support this work and be part of its beginning.
At its heart, this book is about remembering that patriarchy was not always here. That we once lived differently, and we can again.
We’ve been told patriarchy is inevitable. It’s not. In redefining power, this book imagines the next world and invites you to help build it.
